France economy minister files suit against Amazon for unfair competition

French Economy Minster Bruno Le Maire filed suit against Amazon Monday for unfair competitive practices.


Following a two-year investigation, the French Directorate-General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control [official website, in French] had concluded [press release, in French] that Amazon had abused its position in its dealings with vendors.


Le Maire filed the complaint with the Paris Commerce Court, seeking a fine of €10 million ($11.8 million).


Amazon has declined to comment [Reuters report] on the litigation.
