How to Enable SEO URLs

SEO (search engine optimization) is a method used by website owners and builders to ensure that a website gets the highest rank possible in search engine databases. To have a SEO URL (website address) you must pick the right website address. If you design the perfect website and fail to choose an SEO URL, your website traffic will suffer. However, when your URL is search engine optimized, it allows Internet users to find your site through the search engine databases more easily.

Suggestions

  1. Access the Google Keywords Tool. Locate the "Word or Phrase" box that is located on the top left hand side of the page. Type into the "Word or Phrase" box phrases that are relevant to your website. For example, if your website promotes your dog sitting company, you can type in "dog boarding" as your search phrase. You can also type in the words "dog sitter." To be more specific, you can add your geographical location, "Atlanta Georgia dog boarding," or "Atlanta Georgia dog sitter."
  2. Click the "Search" button.
  3. View the search results to determine what words and phrases Internet users are searching for. Look in the "Monthly Searches" column for the phrase that is getting the most number of requests. For example, there may be 368,000 individuals per month searching for "Atlanta Georgia dog boarding" and 27,100 individuals per month searching for "Atlanta Georgia dog sitter."
  4. Choose a URL for your website that contains keywords that get the most monthly searches. For example, because "Atlanta Georgia dog boarding" gets more queries than "Atlanta Georgia dog sitter," you can incorporate the words "Atlanta dog boarding" in your domain name. You can choose "www.atlantadogboarding.com." If the exact URL that you desire is not available for purchase, try an alternate choice that still incorporates key phrases, such as www.atldogboarding.com.
  5. Submit your SEO URL to search engines. If you don't submit your website address to search engine databases, it will be difficult for Internet users to find your website through search engines. Each search engine has a protocol in place that will allow you to submit your URL to the search engine database.
