How To Find Local Insurance Leads Using Twitter Advanced Search

twitter-advanced-search-insurance-salesAre you on Twitter?
Wondering how it’s going to help you make sales?
Of course you are.
Every agent on Twitter is wondering the same thing!

Here’s a quick tip for how insurance agents can use Twitter to find new insurance sales opportunities every single day:
Twitter has a feature called Advanced Search and it allows you to search for the most recent messages about topics, people, and places you’re interested in.

Here’s what it looks like:
twitter-advanced-search
The best part about advanced search is it allows you to search by location.
If you search for the keyword “insurance” with your location in the “near this place” field Twitter will show you all the people within 15 miles who are talking about insurance right now!

Here’s 5 ways you can use this:

I’m sure you can come up with plenty of ideas, but here’s 5 off the top of my head:

1) Find Prospects

If you see anyone complaining about their current insurance company or agent, send them an @ message and let them know you can solve their problems.

2) Answer Questions

Build yourself up as a local expert by trying to help answer questions people are having about their insurance.

3) Find PR Opportunities

If you see any local news outlets doing stories about insurance reach out to them and offer an interview. Or go out to the existing story and make an insightful comment about it.

4) Connect With the Most Popular Local Twitter Users

If you drop the word “insurance” and just search by location Twitter will show suggestions of the most popular Twitter accounts within your radius. This is a great way to find influential local Twitter users to follow!

5) Find good content to share or retweet

If you’re looking for good stuff to tweet yourself or post to Facebook, local insurance news is excellent.

Here’s 5 More Things to Know:

1) How to send @ messages

When you include the name of another Twitter user with an @ in front of it like this: @InsuranceSplash they will get a message that your tweet was directly to them. It’s the easiest way to communicate with Twitter users you’re not already connected with.

2) Filter the noise with negative keywords

Right now any search with insurance is going to pull up a TON of Obamacare tweets. If you’re not a health agent and don’t want to hear this stuff use the negative keyword field and enter terms related to tweets you don’t care about.

3) You can bookmark the search

If you save the search URL to your browser you can check this feed of local insurance tweets every day. It shouldn’t take more than 30 seconds to check if you make it a habit.

4) There’s a prettier version

There’s a company called Nearby Tweets that pretty much offers the same information but in a prettier way. It doesn’t have all the search field options but you still might like it better.

5) Expand or contract the location radius

By default, Twitter shows tweets from users within 15 miles of the location you enter. If you look at the URL at the top of your internet browser you can replace the number 15 with another number bigger or smaller to get more or less specific results.

Try it every day for a week and see what happens!

After all, how many leads has your current Twitter strategy given you?
If you know another agent who uses Twitter pass this article along to them!
And click the Like button or tweet about this article with an @insurancesplash so I know you want more easy tips to generate leads like this.

I hope this idea helps!

How to Manage Sales Leads

Mastering the management of sales leads can mean a lot more money in your pocket. To effectively manage leads, you must have a means to track them and study the data to find your most effective sales techniques.

Things You'll Need

  • CRM software

Suggestions

  1. Find a CRM (Customer Relationship Manager) system that works for you. There are many to choose from, and it could be your most important decision. If you cannot afford one, use a basic spreadsheet to track your leads. At a minimum, track the leads' contact info, how they found out about you, estimated sales amount, probability of closing, and a record of all communications and actions.
  2. Nurture the relationships. Sales don't always happen instantly, they take time. Build a relationship with your lead. Give them the information they request in a timely manner. Check in on them frequently without pushing them away
  3. Study the data. Look over your data and find out what works and what doesn't. Where are most of your leads coming from? This will help you decide where to focus more of your attention. How long does it take to turn a lead into a sale? This will help you track your sales cycle and predict how long it takes. What is the average price of a sale? What type of clients spend a higher amount? The answers will direct you to your most effective sales techniques.

How to Create Sales Leads

Generating sales leads is the very first step in the sales process. Generating viable leads is often difficult, because many people do not know how to approach the lead-generation process. It is important to have a solid plan, a strategy, a measurable goal and a tracking system in place to produce leads that have higher probabilities of turning into presentations and, better yet, sales. Some sales professionals are solely responsible for closing deals, while someone else in the company busily generates those leads to put in their hands. If you are not just a closer, you may benefit from tips on creating qualified sales leads in the business world.

Instructions

  1. Profile your best customers, and identify common characteristics they tend to have. Pay close attention to such key factors as their ages, genders, races, geographic locations, incomes and other traits relevant to the product or service you sell.
  2. Target the areas in which these customers are similar so you can prospect for new leads with this information. From the leads that you get, plan to contact only the prospects who match your selected criteria.
  3. Research different databases online that are pertinent to the type of work you do, and purchase lead lists in your specific industry. These lists are available online, through email or through subscription services. This option tends to be expensive, but the leads are qualified. Target those leads who share the common characteristics you identified among your current database of strong customers.
  4. Cold call the leads you specified. Do not read a script: Relax, and let the conversation flow naturally. This process works with some companies and not for others, but it's the oldest way to generate sales leads in companies.
  5. Send direct mail to identified potential clients. Mailings can include catalogues, brochures and other marketing materials that generate interest in your product or service and encourage these leads to contact you for more information.
  6. Design and write a monthly or quarterly email newsletter for your company. Keep it relatively simple, including information about your product or service; company and industry news; links to relevant news articles, press releases or websites; and industry events. Include promotional offers and discounts to encourage recipients to read all your newsletters. Send this newsletter to your current client list as well as your new leads. If possible, include a sign-up option on your website so you know you are contacting people who actually requested your newsletter.
  7. Participate in networking events and trade shows appropriate to your line of work. You will meet lots of people through this process who could be potential leads, clients or referrals. At trade shows, display an optional business-card drop for a drawing or raffle. Add these contacts to your newsletter and email database.
  8. Provide professional service every day. One of the most successful ways to generate viable leads is by word-of-mouth referral. Referrals are usually the best and most credible leads you will get in the entire lead generation process. Keep your current clients satisfied, and encourage them to refer you to anyone who might need your service.
