Instructions
- Bring up the "Explore" function to see the list of files and folders on your computer's hard drive.
- Right-click on the file or folder you want to hide.
- Select "Properties" from the pop-up menu.
- Check the box labeled "Hidden" at the bottom of the pop-up file menu.
- Click "Apply," then click "OK" to hide the file or folder.
- Go to the View menu at the top of any window that's open on your computer screen.
- Select "Folder Options."
- Check "Do Not Show Hidden or System Files" to make all hidden files and folders invisible to a computer hard drive search.
Tips
- The above process works on Windows operating systems Windows 98, ME, 2000 and XP.
- What's done can be undone. Anyone with the know-how can reverse your privacy efforts and reveal the hidden files. You may need an encryption program for stronger protection.
